In Memory of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah – Founder and Father of Pakistan

The following poem  of my late father Syed Shahab Uddin Ahmad, titled “Jinnah”, was published by Dawn in November 1941 and again on 22 December, 2010.
Brief introduction of my late father:
Syed Shahab Uddin Ahmad (25 December, 1919- 13 May, 2000) was a former Lecturer of Chemistry, Aligarh Muslim University, Principal, Charmical Degree College Rangpur (East Pakistan), Academic Registrar, Rajshahi University (East Pakistan), G.M. Lyallpur Chemicals & Fertilizers Limited (PIDC & NFC) Jaranwala & General Manager (Commercial) National Fertilizers Corporation of Pakistan.

Jinnah

Thou prophet of a brighter dawn,
A glitt’ring jewel in the nation’s crown,
A beacon for the forlorn ship:
Thus Jinnah’s name shall win renown.

Our din that perished in the wilderness
Lo! Now in Whitehall is resounding loud;
Thou spokesman of the Muslim world,
Dispeller of the gath’ring cloud.

Espouse our cause and lead us to the goal
Under your flag to Pakistan,
And surely will we march with you
To make for us a home in Hindustan.

Long live thou Saviour bold!
To teach us freedom, love and amity:
Long live the glory of thy name
To give us faith, discipline, unity.

Golden Words by Dale Carnegie

-If you want to gather honey, don’t kick over the beehive.

-When fate hands you a lemon, make lemonade.

-Don’t be afraid to give your best to what seemingly are small jobs. Every time you conquer one it makes you that much stronger. If you do the little jobs well, the big ones will tend to take care of themselves.

-If you can’t sleep, then get up and do something instead of lying there worrying. It’s the worry that gets you, not the lack of sleep.

-The royal road to a man’s heart is to talk to him about the things he treasures most.

Remember happiness doesn’t depend upon who you are or what you have; it depends solely on what you think.

-First ask yourself: What is the worst that can happen? Then prepare to accept it. Then proceed to improve on the worst.

-If you believe in what you are doing, then let nothing hold you up in your work. Much of the best work of the world has been done against seeming impossibilities. The thing is to get the work done.

-Most of the important things in the world have been accomplished by people who have kept on trying when there seemed to be no hope at all.

-Remember happiness doesn’t depend upon who you are or what you have; it depends solely on what you think.

-The only way to get the best of an argument is to avoid it.

-You can make more friends in two months by becoming interested in other people than you can in two years by trying to get other people interested in you.

-Your purpose is to make your audience see what you saw, hear what you heard, feel what you felt. Relevant detail, couched in concrete, colorful language, is the best way to recreate the incident as it happened and to picture it for the audience.

Father of Pakistan – Calling the Nation

As they say, a picture is worth more than a thousand words, the following video about the plight of the grandson of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, speaks volumes about the apathy, of we Pakistanis, towards the immediate descendants of the Father of the Nation. Our callous attitude towards the family members of the benefactor of the Pakistani nation is pathetic, to say the least.

The federal & provincial government machinery (including the organs of armed forces, judiciary & the parliament ), all Pakistani citizens inside & abroad Pakistan , all political parties & all sections of media must equally share the blame for this apathy, towards the plight of the family members of Quaid-e-Azam.

When the government is already spending tax payers money to look after the former presidents, prime ministers and retired government servants and their families, why  the family of the father of the nation cannot be looked after?

In this regard, the honourable Chief Justice of supreme court of Pakistan, Mr. Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, is requested to take initiative on behalf of the Pakistani nation and announce launching of a fund with the names of trustees & bank account number details for donations to mitigate (not one time but on continuous basis) the sufferings of the great family members of descendants of father of the nation.

Additionally, this fund can also help and assist the deserving Pakistan movement workers and their families.

New Middle Income Donors Announce Increase in World Bank Donor Funding – Courtesy the Efforts of Robert Zoellick President WB

I take this opportunity to advise Mr. Robert Zoellick, that the constant problem of getting funding for the WB can rather, easily be tackled, by laying more emphasis on the counter corruption measures for governments of the Aid Recipient Countries (ARCs).

Moreover, this counter corruption strategy (CCS) will provide manifold benefits, both to the WB & the ARCs.

Just to elaborate the above proposal, it should be understood that mainly the corruption has two roots i.e. direct kick backs and denying installing regimens, that puts full stop to the leakages of billions of dollars of government revenues.

In this regard, Turkey could be cited as a glaring example, where government revenues increased manifolds, when one of such systems was put into practise, on cigarette industry.

In case, World Bank under the dynamic and visionary leadership of Mr. Robert Zoellick, needs my assistance on the proposal, I shall be too glad to offer my services, which may help improve the living conditions of the poor & the suffering people of the world.
