ICC CWC 2019 – Pak Team’s Road Map to Semifinals
ICC ODI Cricket World Cup 2019 and Pakistani team’s prospects.
As per the format of the ICC CWC19 Pakistani team will be playing a total of nine matches in the tournament, before the decision of the four teams, which will be playing the semifinals.
According to the current rankings, our team is placed at sixth spot. And to enter the semifinals race, in the normal circumstances, we will have to win against all teams ranked 7th to 10th (BD, SL, WI and Afghanistan), plus the two of the five teams ranked from 1st to 5th positions i.e., England, India, New Zealand, South Africa and Australia.
This means that for our team’s qualification to the semifinals stage, we must win a minimum of six matches against the nine teams, we shall be playing, in the preliminary round.
However, going by the recent performances of our team, starting from September 2018, it looks that we can easily win against the teams of Sri Lanka and the West Indies and can also defeat with some extra efforts and share of luck, the teams of South Africa, Bangladesh and Afghanistan.
This calculation leads to a situation where we further need a victory over one of the three teams of England, India, New Zealand and Australia.
Going by the current forms and reputation of these four teams we would be very lucky, if we beat New Zealand and enter the Semifinals.
Rest we should hope for the best, because in almost every high voltage ODI cricket match, generally the team which wins is the team which believes in the following maxim “You were born to win, but to be a winner, you must plan to win, prepare to win and expect to win.”
World Cup 2019 – Have we lost it before even it has started?
Respected Mr. Imran Khan Sahab.
AoA.
Sir,
With the announcement of Pakistani squad for the World Cup today, it was proved by the PCB that they are still living in the past and have no idea at which level the top cricketing nations have progressed in the ODI game.
Just for your information, the details of the top five highest ODI scores are provided as below:
Highest ODI Team Score in World Cricket
Team Against Score
England Australia 481/6
England Pakistan 444/3
Sri Lanka Netherlands 443/9
South Africa West Indies 439/2
World Cup 2019 – Selection Blunders of the PCB.
The details of the complete fiasco in selection of Pakistani CWC19 are explained as below:
Fakhar Zaman. (Absolutely wrong selection for the CWC19 due to his poor form. FZ regularly gets out on wrong selection of shots, which is a big blot on his performance and poor reflection over the capabilities of the coaches and the NCA management, for wasting a highly talented opening batsman. In fact, Fakhar Zaman’s constant slump in his form demands immediate removal of our batting and head coaches, along with the entire top management of the NCA).
Imam-ul-Haq:- (He is a Test match material forcefully thrust in the CWC squad, only due to the reasons, which has nothing to do with cricket. Nepotism, is a stipulated violation of the Constitution of Islamic Republic of Pakistan. Sadly, no one, repeat no one, in the entire PCB set up from top to bottom, is aware that now we are in an age and era where 400+ runs in an ODI innings is becoming a norm, rather than an exception. These days 350 – 375 runs in an ODI innings is not at all a safe score. Under the circumstances, Test brand players like Imam ul Haq, Shoaib Malik, Haris Suhail and Sarfaraz Ahmad (who is sadly out of form) are hardly capable of taking team’s score to near about 275 runs (against Eng, India, NZ, SA & Australian teams).
Abid Ali:- Deserving case. However, it is the duty of the coaches to polish this brave-heart extremely talented player, so that he does not quickly fades, like Fakhar Zaman.
Babar Azam:- In fact, he deserves to be the captain of the team. He is the only player in the team who is an automatic choice for the CWC 19 squad.
Shoaib Malik and Muhammad
Hafeez:- Both these players are absolute relic of the past. When it is a known fact that a player has played his stint and is in his twilight age, you do not select him to just bestow the honour to have participated, in yet an another World Cup.
Sarfaraz Ahmed:- His past performances glaringly reflects that now a days, he is the most non-dependable batsman; and very low, on his confidence level. Resultantly, he was so afraid of his failure that he seems to have intentionally decided not to participate in the Pakistan Cup tournament,
Shadab Khan:- Deserving case.
Imad Wasim:- Deserving case. However, it should be noted and taken care of that the technical committee of the World Cup may not allow his replacement (in case of many years old knee injury aggravation) as ICC rules only allow replacement of a player, if he has suffered some fresh injury, during the period of the World Cup.
Hasan Ali:- Deserving case.
Faheem Ashraf:- Deserving case.
Shaheen Afridi:- Haris Rauf should have been selected in place of (S.A.) and it is earnestly requested to the Patron in Chief of the PCB to still order this correction in selection.
Junaid Khan:- Musa Khan should have been selected in place of (J.K) as M.K is a much higher class bowler, particularly, he can be very lethal in the English conditions. As such, it is earnestly requested to the Patron in Chief of the PCB to still order inclusion of this wonder bowler’s name in the squad for the CWC 19.
Mohammad Hasnain:- Deserving choice.
Haris Sohail:- Undeservedly selected as discussed above. Yes a good prospect for Test matches. If he (H.S) has to be selected then Asad Shafiq and Umar Amin should also be selected for the World Cup.
Muhammad Rizwan:- Non-Selection of this most valuable player (MVP) is the biggest BLUNDER of the PCB management and also an unpardonable crime. Therefore, it is earnestly requested to the Patron in Chief of the PCB to kindly order his (Muhammad Rizwan) immediate inclusion in the World Cup squad along with the inclusion of the following players, as well.
Most deserving swashbuckling and highly talented following three batsmen may also be included in the squad:
1. Suhail Akhtar
2. Ehsan Ali
3. Zeeshan Ashraf
Suhail Khan (best bowling all rounder in the local circuit who tore apart Aussie bowling in an ODI during last tour of our team to NZ & Australia)
Umer Khan:- Most highly rated young spinner of Pakistan.
Wahab Riaz and Ahmad Shahzad may also be announced as reserves for the World Cup squad.
Sir, concluding you are requested to please urgently and personally reconsider the Pakistani squad, so that our team is able to cross over two of the top five ranking teams i.e., England, India, New Zealand, South Africa and Australia so as a bare minimum achievement, Pakistani team is able to enter the second round of the World Cup (with three other teams) to straightaway play the semi final of the tournament.

How NOT to win the World Cup..!

Dear Mr. Imran Khan Sahab.
AoA.
Sir,
Without urgent changes in our team’s coaches & captain, we should forget about winning the ODI WC 2019.
Out of the last 10 ODI matches (for latest figures add 5-0 abject surrender on home ground vs Aussies in March 2019) our team won only 2 matches (20%) & Sarfaraz Ahmad scored 292 runs of 17 innings in 13 months of (2018-19) averaging 24+ with 5 not outs.
In this regard, during the recently held Asian Cup tournament played in the UAE in September 2018, our team got unforgettable thrashing from the Indian B team (Virat Kohli was not playing) which defeated our hapless team in a manner, margin and style which may be very difficult to forget, detailed as below:
On 19 September 2018 (Mr. Ehsan Mani took over PCB on 4 September 2018) India defeated Pakistan with 8 wickets by bowling out our team for 162 runs in just 43.1 overs and achieved the target in ONLY 29 overs.
(Please read detailed analysis dated 20 September 2018 of this match given below as Annex-A and a write up dated 22 September 2018 titled “Why our lions have become lambs” as Annex-B.)
In the second match played on 23 September 2018 Pakistan scored 237/7 in 50 overs which was over hauled by the Indians in 39.3 overs by just losing one wicket and won the match with 63 balls to spare, as if, it was not a Pakistani winner of Champions Trophy team, but a team from Afghanistan or Hong Kong.
My short comments dated 23 September 2018 after losing the above mentioned match vs India, are reproduced below for your kind perusal please.
Quote:
High time for head coach and captain to quit for turning Pakistani lions into lambs..!
Today the main reason for a low/disappointing score of our team was that we played 175 dot balls (29.1 overs) out of 300 balls (50 overs).
In first 10 overs of our innings when only 2 fielders are allowed outside the 30 yards circle, we scored only 28 runs against Indian score of 53 runs. (Our teams battery of coaches and selectors got further improvement in the teams performance when our team scored 21 runs repeat ONLY 21 runs in the first 10 power play overs vs the Aussies in one of the matches of the recently played five matches series played in the UAE)
Test match strategy, planning and mindset can never work in an ODI game, where name of the game is attack, innovation, positive approach in team selection, batting, bowling, fielding and staying one step ahead of the opponent’s game plan and strategy.”
Unquote.
Respected Imran Khan Sahab, although, being the Prime Minister it is too much to request you to indulge in the nitty gritty of cricket affairs, yet, the next ODI World Cup is too serious an affair to be left with the current PCB management (set up which only has one mantra on their lips that coaches and selectors can’t be changed before the World Cup), which may be very much sincere with their job, but it looks reclaiming World Cup for Pakistan, is too big a task for them, for which they have somehow been in an INERTIA, since September last; and very clearly, it is visible that they look AFRAID of media, in making bold and corrective decisions, in the larger interest of Pakistani cricket.
Moreover, the current management of the PCB can’t even say that now it was too late to make changes in the team, because given below are written proofs (Annex- A & B) that they were duly warned, way back in September 2018. It looks that the PCB’s management had decided to maintain status quo, as their cardinal policy, but the problem with this status quo policy is, that you end pleasing none and are held responsible for the ultimate failure of the task, originally given to you.
In view of the foregoing, you are once again (for the last time) requested to takeover the reigns of the PCB in your own hands and urgently intervene for a vital course correction, so that Babar Azam or any person you think is a captain material and has a confirmed place in the team & from Javed Miandad/Aquib Javed/Mohsin Hasan Khan/Amir Suhail/Moin Khan/Dean Jones (for Head Coach) may be considered for these positions with a cut out task to bring the World Cup back, under your leadership, otherwise forget about even reaching the semi finals stage.
Best Regards,

[Analysis of India vs Pakistan match played on 20 September 2018]
Disaster at Dubai..!
The total capitulation of Pakistan’s cricket team in the match played on 19 September 2018 at Dubai cricket stadium versus the Indian team must be taken positively for immediate corrective action before the start of the ICC ODI World Cup just after eight months time.
Victories and defeats are part of the game, but abject surrender is not acceptable, for which responsibility must be fixed and heads should roll.
In today’s India vs Pakistan match played at Dubai our entire team just scored 162 runs (which is not even a decent T20 match score) in 43.1 overs, which was easily overtaken by the Indian team in 29 overs for the loss of only two wickets.
The story of most shameful performance by our team is also very aptly reflected by the following statistics of dot balls played by our team:
Total balls of the Pakistani innings = 259 balls or 43.1 overs.
Total dot balls played by our team = 159 balls.
When a team plays almost 62% dot balls then DOUBTS about their capabilities, abilities and INTENTIONS are always raised.
Above all, this pathetic situation also demands ruthless accountability of all concerned who are associated with our team, particularly the captain and the team of coaches.
It is earnestly hoped that the new management of the PCB headed by Mr. Ehsan Mani also knows that the head coach of our team has never played a Test match in his cricketing career.
With this team management and the captain, it will be extremely difficult for our team to even move to the second round in the ODI World Cup schedule to start in May 2019 in England.
It is a timely wake up call for everyone concerned in the PCB, who were living in a false sense of comfort, after defeating Zimbabwe 5-0 in the ODI series, not realising that it was not even their C level team, due to the absence of six main players from the Zimbabwean Team.
This head coach and captain may not be the best choice for being retained till the next ODI World Cup. Especially, the captain who has unfortunately very badly failed to lead the team by example and from the front.
Mr. Aamir Suhail, considering that he is the best person available in the country, who possesses exceptional qualities of observing and correcting technical flaws of our players regarding batting, bowling, fielding, leadership and strategy matters; should be immediately appointed as head coach (and for any reason if it is not possible) then he should be appointed as team director, who should be the boss of the entire contingent of players, head coach, manager and all touring support staff.
If Mr. Aamir Suhail is appointed as the Team Director, may be there will be no need to replace the captain of the team; as under his mentorship, Sarfaraz Ahmad most probably will overcome his batting and leadership deficiencies, as well. Thus, leaving no need to find alternate player, as captain of the team.

Why our lions have become lambs..!
The best way for the new management of the PCB, to not to win the ICC ODI World Cup 2019 is to remain in inertia; and carry on with the present set up, without any change..
However, then a question will be asked that if everything of the past management was satisfactory, then why its chairman was removed?
Nevertheless, the pathetic performance ( being displayed during the ongoing Asia Cup matches) of the product of the previous management of the PCB (players and coaching staff) leaves much to be desired from the new management of the PCB.
Entire coaching staff of our team has miserably failed in delivering (despite very high salaries) along-with captain and the players, who seems to have totally lost their flair of the game and passion for victory: which was clearly visible with the Afghan players, many of whom were seen crying, after losing a nail biting match against our team.
Keeping in view that the ODI world cup is almost around the corner, Shoaib Malik should be immediately appointed captain of the Pakistani cricket team for all the three formats; and a power hitter wicket keeper batsman inducted in place of Sarfaraz Ahmad, who unfortunately, seems to have passed his shelf life; and because of his non-performance, the team has also lost its balance.
The difficulty, with which our team won the match against Afghan team, is not at all a good omen. Even otherwise also, Sarfaraz was originally appointed captain by Mr. Shahryar Khan, by default.
It is again reiterated that our head coach and bowling, batting and fielding coaches must be immediately replaced, because they have turned our players from lions to lambs.
Just look at the hugely declining performances of our fast bowlers including Muhammad Aamir and batsmen including Fakhar and Sarfaraz.
About the declining standards of our fielding, it’s low level during our yesterday’s match against the Afghan team, said it all.
As such, the new management of the PCB is advised that they must not wait for the corrective actions, till after the World Cup.
Pakistan has to win the 2019 ODI world cup in England, which at the moment, with the current lot of coaches and players, looks like a distant possibility.
After the recent change over in the PCB, it looks the new management is acting on a go slow and wait and watch policy.
PCB has to be proactive and must take immediate remedial steps.
Our team badly needs a leader who can inspire, motivate and lead players from his own performances.
Our team also needs immediate induction of power hitters (like Suhail Akhtar) and an accomplished all rounder.
We also need a new coaching staff which can also study the weak points of opponent players and guide our players to modify bowling and batting strategy according to the weak and strong points of the opponent players.
In view of the foregoing, the new set up of the PCB should come into action immediately, postponing the honeymoon period, till after the World Cup is won by our team.
Good luck for Mr. Ehsan Mani in re-vamping the PCB.
Mr. PM this is to remind your promise of transparency & accountability..!
It has not been checked, but someone was telling that this Special Audit of PSL 1&2, as reported and link given below of 9 April 2019 publication by the daily “The News” conducted by the AGP’s office, has compiled serious financial discrepancies in PSL 1&2, amounting to approximately Rs.2 billion.
Similarly, the Special Audit of the PCB, conducted by the office of the AGP in 2017, is also understood to have unearthed huge and amazing financial and administrative irregularities of astronomical proportions, but this report, although, a public property, has not yet seen the light of the day, as well.
Now, the question arises that why the two key members of the BoG of the PCB [CFO & the Audit Committee specially the Head of the Audit Committee] kept mum in the all BoG meetings, over these huge financial matters/irregularities and on the false open media statements of the then Chairman PSL that the external Audit of PSL 1 & 2 has been done, whereas, it was very well known to these two persons (CFO & the Head Audit Committee) that no external Audit of PSL 1&2 was ever even allowed; and Pakistani public was being told a white lie.
In fact, PCB only decided to allow external Audit of the PSL accounts starting from PSL3 (veracity of this can’t be vouched, because it was told by a high ranking official of the PCB).
In view of the foregoing, when no one concerned in the government and the PCB is ready to share with the public, the contents of the above mentioned three Audit Reports [1. Special Audit Report of the PCB of 2017 and (2&3.) Special Audit Reports of PSL1&2 conducted in 2018) the Prime Minister of Pakistan Mr. Imran Khan, who is Patron in Chief of the PCB as well, is requested in the name of his promise of no compromise ever in the Accountability and the Transparency; to forward these cases of the three Special Audit Reports of the PCB & the PSL’s financial and administrative irregularities to the chairman NAB, for its own impartial, but fast track inquiry/investigations.
However, till such time the NAB is processing these cases of the PCB, no concerned PCB officials and the concerned BoG members, be allowed to leave the country.

How not to be ousted – A recipe for the ruler
A lesson for ALL rulers in arrest of 30 years President of Sudan Omar al-Bashir (75 years of age) that protest against rising prices ultimately results in arrest of rulers of even 3 decades.
Must remember that there was a direct link between toppling of even a stable government and the rising prices, which breaks the back of the ordinary citizens.
Wise rulers never ever listens to the advices of the IMF, WB and pseudo domestic economic experts, which goes against the financial interests of the teeming millions, who are crushed by the weight of the rising prices, in every sphere of their life.
Moreover, no government can be TOPPLED (latest example of coup failure in Turkey) which goes for severe and ruthless actions (like in Saudi Arabia) in recovering bank loans and looted national wealth from the elite (just about 2%).
So, the best way to comfortably rule in the government is to build a strong, rather very strong middle class; and be the saviour of the poor, for the poor and by the poor. Elite class can make you a ruler, but it cannot save you from being toppled.
Protests began in December over rising food costs but quickly expanded to a broad challenge to Mr. al-Bashir’s hold on power.
Sudan’s military ousted President Omar al-Bashir on Thursday 11 April 2019, the defence minister announced, ending a 30-year authoritarian rule in the face of mass street protests that have swept the country.
Defense Minister Awad Mohamed Ahmed Ibn Auf said that Mr. al-Bashir 75 had been taken into custody and that the government had been dissolved and the Constitution suspended.
