Cricket – A Recipe for Pakistan to Win UAE Series Against England

Heartiest congratulations to Pakistani cricket team and PCB, on consecutive all cricket formats victories, against Sri Lanka and Bangladesh cricket teams.

Now the real test of planning, talent and abilities, awaits our cricket team and it’s management, against English team in UAE series, next month.

In this regard, the PCB may consider as below, a recipe for winning against England.

1. Positive Attitude.  Defensive minds are neither creative nor cooperative. Until  and unless we only focus on nothing short of winning (and consider a DRAW as a DEFEAT) no planning and preparation, will give us the desired results.

2. Planning. The team management in particular and players in general must be told that PLANS never fail, rather we fail to PLAN. And for planning, the first and foremost thing is the mind set, totally focused on goal achievement. In order to achieve the impossible, it is precisely imperative, to think the unthinkable.

3. Video Analysis. All concerned must sit and watch strengths and weaknesses of English as well as, Pakistani players. This will not only help in overcoming our weaknesses, but will also help in field settings, determining bowling line and length, knowing weakness of opponent players, against fast and spin bowling etc.

4. Infusion of Motivation. Since, cricket is a mind game, a motivation specialist (NOT psychiatrist) must be attached with the team, with the task to convert our players, from being simply dynamic persons to a DYNAMITE personality, so that every player must perform, to his peak ability. In my opinion, the best person in the country, for this job is Ms Andleeb Abbas.

5. Team Selection. (a) The success of any project depends on the right selection of it’s team members. The enemy of the BEST is often the GOOD. In fact, now it is said that the only difference between winning and losing organizations is the quality of it’s people, which includes their character, belief, habits, personal motivation and abilities.

(b) We should not only select players on merit or past performances but, one or two batsmen and bowlers from domestic circuit should also be selected by just anticipating, that given a chance, they can be stars overnight with their sheer fearlessness and big game temperament. Just like as a shrewd jeweler, we should pick a diamond from the rubbles.

(c) Having said that, Shahid Afridi (basically on his bowling and fielding abilities and forgetting his batting ability, because in cricket bowlers win matches) and Umar Akmal (if he is given the wicket keeping job the team becomes more balanced), must be selected for the Test teams as well.

(d) Similarly, our wicket keepers on show till now have been just average players. We must find some really outstanding wicket keeper, for which the legend Mr. Wasim Bari should be assigned the task, to find out the person who can be categorized as find of the tour.

6.Team Management. The team management must be told that business as usual, will not deliver in this most tough series. They should know that management is doing things right. Leadership is doing the right things. Management is efficiency in climbing the ladder of success; Leadership determines whether the ladder is leaning against the right wall.

Golden Words – Positive Thinking

Break Destructive Habits

by Jane Powell

“Change the way you think and you’ll change the way you feel.”

Breaking the habit of negative thinking and replacing it with an “I can and I will” attitude is the change called for by inner confidence.

Negative thinking can be so interwoven in the fabric of whom you are that it is natural to assume it’s normal. It’s not! Breaking the cycle of negative thinking means you must acknowledge and face your harsh inner critic.

You have strengths, skills and talents. Recognizing and believing in them is what confidence is all about. When you are confident, it’s easy to feel great, because your inner critic becomes your inner champion!

You’re only a moment away from making real progress. One
Small effort can get you started.

It’s nice and comfortable to stay where you are, without
Taking action, without making progress. Yet after a while
That comfort turns into stagnation, and you’ll feel painful
Regret for not moving forward.

Now, however, you have the opportunity to avoid that regret.
Now, you have the chance to make valuable use of this very
Moment.

It really doesn’t take much to get started, and the payoff
Can be enormous. Once you make that first small effort, the
Next one comes more easily, and the one after that even more
Easily.

Soon, you’ll have real, solid momentum. And before long,
You’ll have a real, valuable achievement.

Life is yours right now to live. Start with one small
Effort, and fulfill your greatest possibilities.

Matter of choice

Life is always a matter of choice. Whatever the circumstances may be, you can choose the level at which you live.

You can choose what to think about the various events that play out in front of your eyes. You can choose how to respond to the challenges and opportunities that come into your life.

When you choose to consistently and persistently follow a particular purpose, you will manifest that purpose in the world around you. When you choose to focus your thoughts and efforts on things of meaningful value, you will create more value.

In the next few hours, or in the next few moments, anything can happen. It may be what you planned or it may be a total surprise.

Yet whatever may happen, you can choose what to do about it. Though you are subject to many powerful forces and influences, you can choose the way you deal with them.

The life you live is a matter of choice. Choose wisely, and live richly.

Ralph Marston

Golden Words – Hope

Hope is life. Yes, hope is the driving force and it pushes the life forward and makes the life fruitful and worthiness for living. Positive thinking will enhance the life standards and reduces the stress levels.

The following 10 points will help you to have a life with full of hope and positive thoughts.

1. Never get despair yourself for every simple defeat and take strong decision to work harder than the previous attempt..

2. Don’t be always in a hurry mood, as hurry makes you worry. Have the patience and wait for some more time looking hopefully for the result. Certainly you will get the good result, as per the hard labor put by you.

3. Never show sympathy upon yourself. Instead you make yourself more capable and dependable..

4. Never allow anxiety to overtake you. Develop this type of thinking as, still what I have to do?

5. People around you, are needn’t be either your supporters or opposites, your thinking must be in that manner. Moreover, they are busy in their daily chores, that point, you must ever keep in mind.

6. It is very difficult to please everyone, always.

The quotation is like this: “If you want to please all, you please none”.

7. Never be afraid of the changes that may occur in the circumstances where you are working but try adjust to them which gives relief from stress and strain.

8. Be of the opinion that you are helping others and not think like that others are utilizing you..

9. Never worry that you are in trouble and there is no way out.
But remember the quotation: “Where there is will, there is a way”. For every problem, there is a solution.

10. You have got your thinking capacity and you need not depend on others for simple things.

Speak to others sincerely and live heart fully. Always laugh with others (it is not good to laugh at others).

Be friendly with others as far as possible. Be plain in your dealings. A sincere person is always liked by others.

Cricket ODI ICC World Cup 2011 – Recipe of Victory for Pakistan

Every negative has a positive. Although, Pakistan lost in a pathetic manner against New Zealand, in their group match played on March, 08, 2011 yet, I believe that we should consider this defeat as a blessing in disguise. Because firstly, it was not a knock out situation and secondly, now we know all the chinks in our armor which we can and should be mended, to play our future matches with total focus and determination on winning the finals, at all costs.

In this regard, the following steps are suggested as an immediate corrective measures.

1. Our main problem is batting. Mr. Mohsin Hasan Khan (Chief Selector) is a very experienced, committed & dedicated person. Our team badly needs his services for planning, strategy and overall game plan. As such, Mr. Mohsin Hasan Khan may be asked to immediately join the team, for utilizing his services to uplift team’s batting in  particular & overall performance in general.

2. Request M/S Imran Khan and Javed Mindad to hold daily video or telephonic conference with the team management and entire team and discuss all training, motivational, technical, tactical and strategy issues relating to the next matches.

3. We should avoid insanity which is defined as ” Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.” What I mean to say is that Mr. Kamran Akmal should not be expected to deliver as a wicket keeper or attacking batsman. Hence,  if possible he should (in the national interest) feign injury, return home and some able replacement may be sent in. Otherwise, he should be replaced with Asad Shafiq as a batsman and Umar Akmal should be given the responsibilities of wicket keeping.

4. Now coming to our strategy for the 1st ten overs. These overs are more precious than gold. Here, again insanity should be avoided and Abdul Razzaq and Shahzad Ahmad should open the innings with license to play shots, freely and keeping in view a target score not less than 90-100 runs. ( Not failure but low aim is crime).

5. If a wicket falls in 1st ten overs, Shahid Afridi should bat at No.3.

6. It must be clear to all and sundry that M/S Abul Razzaq & Shahid Afridi have virtually played no role in any Pakistani current world cup victory with their bat. And the team needs this role very badly.

7. If a spinner is required to bowl in the 1st ten overs, Hafeez should be asked to do the job.

8. Junaid, the left arm fast bowler must be given the chance to  prove himself in the next match.

9. Winning the world cup is almost like achieving the impossible. And in order to achieve the impossible, it is precisely the unthinkable that must be thought. World class success can not be achieved with second class performance.

10. The biggest plus of this tournament has been the emergence of Shahzad Ahmad as the best fielder of the team. This asset should be properly utilized, to the maximum advantage of the team.

Cricket ODI ICC World Cup 2011 – Pakistan Vs New Zealand

If Pakistan forgets thrashing by NZ batsmen and focus on winning the game with absolutely positive attitude, they can still win the match easily.

Nevertheless, if fate has ordained defeat for you, give it a good fight. Never ever, surrender.
