An Appeal to the Pak Parliamentarians – Legislation for the Consumers Benefit

The best way to safeguard the consumer interest, is to make it mandatory by law, the printing (at a prominent place) of retail prices, on the product packing of all and every item sold in the market. Plus,  mentioning of retail prices in all media advertisements of any item, advertised in any media of Pakistan.

In this regard, all Senators, MNA’s & MPA’s of Pakistan are urgently requested to legislate the above proposal at the earliest.

The nation will hold the democracy in high esteem, for this monumental favour by the elected representatives.

Come on Pakistan – Look What India is Doing

Today, Times of India reported (Link:- http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/Black-money-India-to-sign-agreements-with-42-more-nations/articleshow/10793795.cms) that After signing agreements with 48 countries, India will shortly ink pacts with 42 more nations to bring back black money stashed abroad, Union minister of state for parliamentary affairs Harish Rawat said. Once these agreements are signed, India will be in a position to bring back black money stashed in different banks abroad, he told reporters here.

In Pakistan, every body knows that we are no less behind any nation in corruption. Moreover, we are also no less behind in raising hue and cry against corruption. But, the problem is that corruption can neither be curbed with hollow slogans nor by declaration of assets by the politicians and government employees. Corruption can only be minimized by deterrent legislation; which ensures that crime of corruption will not pay, neither in the short nor in the long term. And effective judicial verdicts, like the one announced today by the Delhi court in which former Indian 86 years old telecom minister Sukhram, has been sentenced for five years jail, for taking Rs 3 lakhs as bribe to give a lucrative contract to a private firm in 1996. He pleaded for leniency in court on grounds of his old age while the CBI called him a “habitual offender” and sought maximum punishment for him.The 86-year-old former minister was held guilty for misusing his official position during his tenure as telecom minister in P V Narasimha Rao’s cabinet in giving a contract worth Rs 30 crore to a private company, Haryana Telecom Limited (HTL), to supply 3.5 Lakh Conductor Kilometers (LCKM) of Polythene Insulated Jelly Filled (PIJF) cables to the telecom department.

We in Pakistan must realize that our main problem is not the existence of corruption. Rather, the fertile culture which help breeds corruption pay as the most lucrative and profitable activity in Pakistan. Till such time we attack the very roots of this cancerous culture of corruption in Pakistan, no positive improvement should be expected in any sphere of life.

And we must be aware of the fact that corruption is a bigger menace than terrorism.

Since we have all the required intitutions and no dearth of honest and honourable people, what is required is developing  a system to post these DYNAMITE people to be head of NAB, FIA and Anti-Corruption deparments of provincial governments.

Towards the achievement of this goal, a committee is proposed to be constituted, consisting of Chief Justice of Supreme Court, all Chief Justices of High Courts and leader of the opposition of National and all provincial assemblies, for appointing on a tenure post, all heads and key personnel of NAB, FIA and Provincial anti-Corruption departments. Moreover, NO person in the country from civil, military, judiciary and any other department should have the immunity from interrogation on corruption matters before these departments.

It is earnestly hoped that the above said mechanism if put in place, will strike such a fear in the hearts of all and sundry, that no one will dare even think of doing corruption in Pakistan.

Pot (Condoleezza Rice) Calling The Kettle Black

This has reference to the news published on November 04, 2011 in the daily “Pakistan Today” under the heading ” Pakistan going after extremists will be a ‘real wild card’: Rice” Link :-  http://www.pakistantoday.com.pk/2011/11/pakistan-going-after-extremists-will-be-a-real-wild-card-rice/

Ms Condoleezza Rice let me tell you that your words Calling Pakistan “a continuing problem” for both the US and Afghanistan are very offensive, uncalled for and an insult for a nation, who gave more sacrifices in men and material, than combined losses of 49 NATO countries, fighting your sown and harvested terrorism in Afghanistan.

And don’t forget Ms C. Rice that Pakistan and this region is suffering, just because your agencies failed to stop 9/11 plotters, who got training in aeroplane flying right inside your country; and none of them belonged to Pakistan.

America has a habit of waging wars on innocent people on false pretexts.

We in Pakistan wonder, what wrong we have done over the last 64 years, in looking after your needs and helping you as a friend e.g. in Korean war era under various pacts, allowing overflights for your U2 planes to spy over USSR, connecting USA with China, bringing down USSR in Afghanistan war in 80s, saving American soldiers from being lynched by Somalian war lords, saving US staff from burning Islamabad Embassy,  making America a single super power and fighting so called American war on terror  imposed on this region that too because of sheer incompetence of US intelligence agencies, in stopping 9/11 attacks in the first instance.

Ms Condoleezza Rice, the fact is that America has time and again proved, with its betrayal in its friendship with Pakistan, that you people are and never were worthy of Pakistan’s friendship and all the sacrifices we gave for you. Moreover, now there is no doubt that you understand one and only one language, learnt in Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan wars.

And the moral of the story is, that a nation may survive being not a friend of America but, it can’t survive, being a friend of America.

Cricket – Mohsin Hassan Khan’s Blunder Costs Probable Victory to Pakistan in Ist Test Against Srilanka At Abu Dhabi

Mr. Mohsin Hasan Khan, must remember that once Mr. Imran Khan said that the best recipe for defeat, is to play for a draw.

At least Pakistan should have given it a try to go for runs, on the last day of the first Test at Abu Dhabi against Srilanka. Moreover, Mr. Mohsin Hassan Khan’s statement that it was decided during the innings break, that Pakistan will decide about the run chase as per the fielding deployment of the opponent team, confirms that firstly, our team management handed over the initiative to the Srilankan team and secondly, Pakistani team fell into the trap of Srilankan fielding plan. Although, Srilankan team could not have bowled out Pakistani team in 21 overs, yet, surely Pakistan had all the chances and cards in their hands, to force a win.

A timid person can be a good player or chief selector, but he can never be a good captain or coach.

Cricket is all played in the mind mate (read Mohsin Hassan Khan). And negative thoughts will never snatch a victory from the jaws of defeat or draw.

Pakistan Must Demand From Swiss Government To Return Money In Swiss Banks

The news reported in the daily “Pakistan Today” (link:- http://www.pakistantoday.com.pk/2011/09/pakistan-has-97-billion-dollars-in-swiss-banks-director-swiss-bank/#IDComment194865889that Swiss banks have 97 billion dollars, is a smoke screen to mislead the general public. By no means this figure can be less than 200 billion dollars i.e. more than three times the existing foreign debt of Pakistan.

Leaving aside the exact amount of Pakistan’s money in the Swiss banks, our civilian government & parliament, military establisment, bench and bar & the media must devise some mechanism (following the US government’s successful initiative with the Swiss government) to very strongly take up the issue with Swiss government, to immediately return back our money deposited in Swiss banks.

This is all the more necessary for the very survival of Pakistan (Indian defense budget is going to increase from 36 billion dollars to 60 billion dollars in next few years versus Pakistan’s current defense budget of 4-5 billion dollars). Moreover, Pakistan’s economic growth and development is absolutely necessary to stabilize the country to successfully fight the war on terror for the entire world. And we will not be demanding any charity from the Swiss government.

This money belongs to the people of Pakistan and the entire nation (including ruling parties and the opposition) is fully united on this issue. Rather, it will be the biggest gift from the Asif Ali Zardari led PPP to the nation for which voters will elect them to serve the nation for at least 100 years. So come on PPP, rise to the occasion, it is the golden chance for you to re-build a new properous & peaceful Pakistan.

Mr. Chief Justice of Supreme Court of Pakistan – The Nation is Calling You Again

H’able CJ of SC has hit the bulls eye (in saying outdated laws must be repealed) as reported in the Daily “Pakistan Today” link:- http://www.pakistantoday.com.pk/2011/09/outdated-laws-must-be-repealed-says-cjp/#IDComment191800260

The fact is that panacea of Pakistan’s many ills lies in removing the out dated laws from the statue books of the country, where we have been made prisoners of our past.

Mr. CJ you and your honourable colleagues have done a lot for this country. Kindly do us another favour, for which our generations will be thankful to you.

Please find a solution to immediately replace the current election process (which is the mother of all problems) with a new one in which every party leader should stand to be elected directly, as head of the government. However, before the elections, each participating party will declare a list in advance of it’s assembly members (for the voters to know beforehand the qualifications, capabilities, character & mettle of their future public representatives). Now after the elections, the proportionate number of these advance named party representatives will be automatically elected, starting from the top of the list, according to the share of the votes polled in favour of the party leader.

In this way, very high quality members (who will be even confirming the appointment of judges) will come to assembly, Jagirdars hold on voters will lose its grip, election expenses will be drastically reduced, sale of votes will be eliminated, neat and corruption free governance will emerge, Biradari system menace will crack down, people’s frustration from the democracy will be minimized, parties will be forced to implement their manifesto and people’s say in direct selection of rulers will increase manifold.

Sir, the definition of insanity says “doing an act over and over again and expecting a different result.” There is also a saying in IT jargon that “Garbage in garbage out”. The existing system will never deliver in our circumstances. So, kindly help this nation come out of the clutches of the prevalent exploitive system, whereby, 3-5 % cruel minority is ruling & plundering rest of the suffering majority.

The change of system will also automatically stop the talk of dismemberment of Pakistan, so rampant these days.

Pakistan Must Nip The Afghanistan’s Aggression In The Bud

Recently the defense Secretary briefed to a committee in parliament that Abbotabad incident happened because Pakistan had not perceived any threat from the west and that now Pakistan is fully prepared for any such eventuality. My question to the people in the government is that is this the preparation of Pakistani defense planning, that whenever Afghanistan wants, she can commit aggression against a nuclear armed Pakistan, kill its people in scores of dozens and then go back without being punished?

Let me tell that such unabated killings of Pakistani troops will happen again and again in future and can’t be curbed with protests with Afghan diplomats or NATO people. Now it is an international rule, albeit neither legal nor approved by the UNO, that countries make pre-emptive strikes for even any perceived hostile action against their people or country.

So, in my opinion, if at all we are serious in eliminating such future aggressions against our motherland, Pakistan must at least make retaliatory strike on Afghanistan in such a befitting manner, that it will think 1000 times before repeating in future, any such hostile acts. In fact, I believe that in such situations ” Qatal Moozi Qabal Eeza ” i.e. nip the evil in the bud.

Here I am reminded by a quote of Ch. Shujaat Hussain wherein, he said, Pakistan has not made Atom bomb for firing on Shab-e-Barat. Moreover, we should also remember that saying ” Hay Jurm-e-Zaeefi Ki Saza Marg-e-Mufajat. “

Pakistan Calling for Its Anna Hazare to Save Karachi From the Daily Dance of Death

Pakistan is calling for its Anna Hazare not for anti-corruption bill but for saving the innocent humanity in Karachi carnage.

Come on just one person from the huge crowd of President, Prime Minister, Ministers, Chief Ministers, Governors, Speakers & Deputy speakers, MNA’s & MPA’s.

Is there  not even one person in this nation of 18 crore people, to just stand up and protest like Anna Hazare, against the unabated killings of innocent perons in Karachi?

The silence of the entire nation and all the organs of the state on Karachi Killings is deafning, but all of us must remember, that if today we fail to move individually & collectively, to stop the daily carnage of humanity in Karachi, then be ready to face the situation, where even our names will be scratched from the annuls of the history.

Modern Miniature Master Pieces By S. M. Mansoor

Opinions of leading art scholars, writers & critics about the art works of internationally acknowledged Pakistani painter S.M.Mansoor (s.m.mansoor@hotmail.com)

“Here, in other words, is a corpus of work, which even as it may charm the eye, equally provides a cultural anchor to ‘modern miniatures’. Why of course, and yet such as are not merely decorative delights. Elephants, flying kites, horse mounted personages, maidens dancing in the vestments of another day, and much else besides, offer a profile of once living attitudes. These attitudes covered a wide range of culture, inner and outer. Via the genus, we certainly become conscious as to how mankind’s life attitudes can be at once subtle, shifting and varying. Mansoor expresses these same with objectivity. In this way he is not merely expressing himself, but attempting to catch culture in process.”

Keshav Malik, Bombay

In Mansoor’s miniatures the tradition serves as a stimulant. Thus, giving the artist a power to realize the modern vision and create in the language of his ancestors with a refreshing and spontaneous fragrance of his own times. Elements of abstraction with modern visual vocabulary in these miniatures make them distinct from the conventional miniature art in sub-continent.

Prem Singh New Dehli

Mansoor is an artist of his time but a `one off,’ unique man of great diversity. His work is an exhilarating visual experience; there is great variety in the artist’s choice of subject. In the work of Mansoor it is a joyful sharing of optimism with No elitist overtones.

Marjorie Husain, Karachi

Mansoor’s art rejects deterministic attitude. He had eliminated all the conventions of traditional miniature painting. There is a growing sense of experimental and innovation. He uses the modern sometimes abstract many times semi abstract language and molded it to express his ideas.

Dr.Shahida Manzoor, Lahore

With innovative experimentation Mansoor certainly seems to be going somewhere. Where he eventually lands up is dependant upon his sustainability and his ability to choose the single path that will satisfy his urge for adventure and assimilate his undoubted ability to use colours textures and icons from his rich traditional heritage.

Dr. .Musarrat Hasan, Lahore

Mansoor shows a deep sense and lust for experimentation, observation and scrutiny. And with this deep sense of perception he juxtaposes traditional elements with modern element. He mixes traditional techniques with modern vocabulary. No doubt Mansoor is a master, an expert and a king of modern miniature painting art in Pakistan.
