Think Before Hitting Reply to Your Next Email

People today expect an instantaneous reply to any message. But you shouldn’t reply to everything right away. If you hit “send” without fully thinking, you could start a cycle of miscommunication. Here are other options:
A non-response response: “Got your message.” This serves as acknowledgment. Though it may aggravate someone in the midst of a negotiation or serious exchange.
An expectation-setter: “Got it. A lot on the plate today, I’ll get back to you tomorrow.” This is often good middle ground. It’s an immediate response and resets the timetable.
A confident pause: Don’t respond. Really. Just don’t. Pausing for at least 24 hours is a pretty good rule of thumb. Not responding can often work to your advantage, so you and the sender can think.

All the Pakistani stake holders in its political system, more so the PTI, must realise that the current political logjam resolution, through the judicial commission enquiry, may create more problems than providing the black and white answers to the question of whether the election 2013, were massively rigged or not. In fact, this is a classical catch 22 situation.

As such, foresight demands and also it is in the larger interest of the nation, to not to follow a course of option, which most certainly will pop up more serious problems, instead of resolving the issue of massive riggings in the E-2013.

Since, Pakistan has already fallen behind in every sector of economic development, even compared with such countries like Bhutan, Nepal, Bangladesh and SriLanka etc., it can ill afford plunging from one crisis to another, for months and years on. It is high time that every stake holder realised that enough was enough and for the sake of Pakistan, we have to move forward, sacrificing our egotism.

As they say no player is bigger than the sports, it should be clearly realised that no politician is also bigger than the country and its national interest.

Hence, in view of the foregoing, the following win win solution is being placed before all the stake holders and the key institutions to immediately take Pakistan out of the present political crisis.

PROPOSAL:

– Pakistan can have a referendum under the supervision of its armed forces and rangers, to get reply of just one question i.e., whether E-2013 were rigged or not. And, if the answer is in affirmative then the Prime Minister Mr. Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, should dissolve all the assemblies, set up a new care taker govt and hold fresh elections, under a new EC.

– Moreover, before the dissolution of the assemblies, the parliament must also pass a bill, for the election reforms, as per the consensus of all the stake holders.

– In the meantime, the PTI should also join back the assemblies and end its Dharna in Islamabad.

The proposal of referendum is allowed under the constitution and no one can object that any constitutional violation was committed.

History repeating itself in Pakistan..?

In 1977 Zulfikar Ali Bhutto stretched out negotiations with the PNA so much that Gen Zia got his chance to intervene. Whatever may have been written in his stars, to some extent Bhutto invited his own doom…just as Pakistan’s ruling classes invited the wrath of the furies in 1971 when they refused a settlement with the Awami League.

A political settlement of the present crisis…the opportunity for this is slipping through the fingers of the ruling set-up. Can something be done or are we watching another drama unfold?

ISLAMABAD: Rejecting the allegations levelled by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has said that in the general elections 2013, only 800,000 additional ballot papers were printed and that too due to technical reasons.

In a statement issued on Friday, it was stated that the PTI’s charge of printing 5.5 million ballot papers was baseless.All the ballot papers were printed in the Printing Corporation of Pakistan (PCP).

It was observed that the total number of voters in the general elections was 86.1 million and 172.2 million papers were needed for national and provincial assemblies. However, the PCP printed 173 million ballot papers.As per the statement, there are 100 papers in a single book, due to which extra ballot papers are to be printed.

Election commission members refute Imran Khan’s allegations

After Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chairman Imran Khan on Monday accused the Election Commission for rigging in the May 2013 elections, members of the commission refuted the accusations, Express News reported.
Additional Secretary Election Commission and provincial commissioners including Tariq Qadri, Mahboob Anwer and Sher Afgan addressed a press conference in Karachi on Monday evening stating that conducting elections was the commission’s constitutional responsibility.
They refuted allegations that ballot papers were printed through private contractors or that even excess ballot papers were printed.
They said that there was no question of extra ballot papers being printed, which were printed by a governmental organisation. They added that the provincial election commission did even add one extra ballot paper.
Qadri, whom Khan had accused of meeting with Pervez Malik, said he did not know anyone of that name.
He added that he was only temporarily transferred to Punjab.
Anwer said that Justice (retd) Riaz Kiani never asked them to do anything illegal.
They also refuted Khan’s accusations of Ishtiaq Ahmed getting two extensions as a reward.

7.6m extra ballots printed in last polls: ECP

ISLAMABAD: Replying to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan’s allegations, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) stated that 7.6 million extra ballot papers were printed in the last year general elections.

In a statement issued here Friday, the ECP said that extra ballot are printed to cope with any emergency situation that may emerge during elections.

“Extra ballot papers are usually used to replace the missing or damaged ballot papers and they don’t serve the purpose of rigging by any means,” it added.

Giving details of the ballot papers, the ECP said that the total number of registered voters are 861,89,802, whereas 180 million ballot papers were printed in total.

He said that 112,500,000 ballot papers were printed in Printing Corporation of Pakistan while 675,00,000 were printed in Security Printing Press.

Earlier, addressing a press conference, Imran Khan claimed that May 11, 2013 general elections were rigged by printing 5.5 million extra ballot papers. –
