A Five-Minute Exercise to Boost Leadership

When a new work group forms, people often make snap judgments about who is qualified to lead. The attitude with which you enter a new group — something completely within your control — can help boost your chances of leading it. To achieve higher status and more influence, get in the right mind-set before engaging with new teammates. Try this simple five-minute exercise: write about your ambitions and what you hope to achieve in life, and recall a time when you felt happy or powerful. Recent research shows that study subjects who did exactly that were more likely than others to speak up, steer decision making, and be viewed by their teammates as leaders — both in initial group meetings and in follow-up meetings two days later.

‘Power crisis will soon pale before water crisis’ Daily “The News” 23. December, 2013.

An excerpt of an interview by Haris Zamir of the ADB Country Director Pakistan, Dr. Werner Liepach, which deals with an eye opening issue, concerning Pakistan’s near future.

Q. In a report released recently by ADB, Pakistan was pinpointed as one of the most water-stressed countries in the world, not far from being classified as ‘water-scarce’. What is your take on this?

A. ADB released a study, financed by the Friends of Democratic Pakistan, on water issues earlier this year. The report says it all. Much needs to be done. The issues are known but the important thing is to move to implementation. Unless the issues are addressed today, this will become an issue tomorrow against which today’s power crisis will appear like a small piece of cake.

Out of the first 33 balls bowled by the SL team, 25 were dot balls. And remember only 60 balls are bowled in the first power play.

8 runs in 26 balls. Every batsman is playing for himself rather the team.

Sharjeel was out on the 11th consecutive maiden ball. What a performance during the power play, when only 2 fielders are allowed out side the 30 yards circle.
No surprise that Pakistani team is world record holder for playing maximum number of DOT balls.
