Twenty years of Pakistan defeats at Australian hands were erased in little more than 20 minutes. The last five wickets belonging to Michael Clarke’s befuddled team tumbled for eight runs in 46 balls after lunch, rather summing up the gulf between the two sides in a series Australia had expected to win.

Instead it was Misbah-ul-Haq’s team that was triumphant, not just beating Australia but totally obliterating them. The Abu Dhabi result was Pakistan’s biggest ever victory margin by runs. In terms of average differential (batting average minus bowling average) this was Australia’s worst series of all time. Australia have the Ashes, but that’s all.

Thanks to Allah for Granting His Blessings in the shape of a memorable cricket series victory over a super power of the game.

In the history of cricket Test ranking Pak for 1st time has climbed to #3 level.

Nothing gives more joy, happiness & unity to the nation more than a cricket match & series win over #1 team of the world.

Also for the 1st time PCB is giving the message that this organisation is in safe hands, our team is cleansed of any politics.

Hence, special felicitations to all Misbah and his men and Mr. Shahryar Khan chairman PCB, as well.

You may be aware that the electricity load shedding has brought the country to the brink of abyss. The writing on the wall is there for every body to read and take immediate, repeat immediate, drastic and emergent steps, before the situation explodes to a point of no return. In fact, the country has now reached a defining moment.

In this regard, now as all powerful Prime Minister, it is high time that you may take personal charge of the looming crisis.

For your consideration, I take this opportunity to submit the following proposals to stem the rot of the current electricity crisis of Pakistan.

1. Impose total country-wide ban on use of air-conditioners in all official, public and private offices and residences ( which includes the offices and residences of the President, P.M, Governors, C.M’s and state guest houses with no exceptions, even for the foreign guests). We should not forget that in 60’s Indian government imposed a nation-wide ban on serving of dinner, to meet the severe food shortage.

2. Order, closure (strictly) of all shops and offices after 6 P.M. Remember, every Watt saved is Watt generated.

3. Order prohibition of every type of decorative lighting in the country.

4. All TV channel transmissions and cable services must be ordered to be closed at 9 P.M. through out the country.

5. The services of Police, Rangers, F.C and Armed Forces may be acquired to detect and permanently disconnect, the electricity connection of all those premises, who are getting electricity through illegal means. These premises, under no circumstances, be allowed electricity connection in future. Remember, there is more than 30% (latest NEPRA losses figures are at 40%) electricity theft in the country and civilian agencies can never overcome this problem.

6. Order, immediate one hour advancement of clocks and five days working in a week.

7. Order, immediate maximum facilitation to all and sundry, installing and using Solar energy at their premises, like as in India, bank loans are given for Solar energy at 4% interest rates. Our customs department charge tax on one pretex or other, on Solar energy equipments, although the government has declared it as tax free. This matter should be resolved once for ever.

Wishing you all the success, in your endeavours to serve the country, in a manner to be remembered in the annuls of the history.

Na Samgho Gay To Mit Jao Gay Aay PPP Walo,

Tumharey Datan Tak Na Ho Gy Dastano mein.

Stats highlights from a day
dominated by Misbah-ul-Haq, in Abu Dhabi

56 Number of balls in which Misbah-ul-Haq got his century – the fastest, in terms of deliveries, equaling Viv Richards.

74 Number of minutes in which Misbah got to his hundred, the second-fastest in terms of time.* Australia’s Jack Gregory scored a century in 70 minutes against South Africa in 1921.

138 The partnership strike rate for Pakistan’s fourth wicket. Misbah and Azhar Ali posted 141 runs from 102 balls. This is the the best rate for a 100-plus partnership by a Pakistan pair, and the third-fastest ever.

1 Number of times that the opposition captain has scored twin hundreds in a Test against Australia – Misbah is the first. Misbah is only the second Pakistan captain, after Inzamam-ul-Haq, to score twin Test hundreds.

2 Number of instances where two batsmen from a team have scored twin hundreds in a Test. Misbah and Azhar scored two hundreds each in this Test. The only previous instance involved Greg Chappell and Ian Chappell, in Hamilton in 1974. There are two other instances of batsman from opposing teams scoring twin hundreds in a Test. Andrew Jones and Asanka Gurusinhna scored twin hundreds in Hamiton in 1991, as did Denis Compton and Arthur Morris during the fourth Ashes Test in 1947.

21 Number of balls in which Misbah got to his fifty – a record. The previous fastest fifty in Test cricket was by Jacques Kallis, off 24 balls, against Zimbabwe, in Cape Town, in 2005.

24 Number of minutes in which Misbah got to fifty, also a record. The previous record holder was Mohammad Ashraful, who scored a fifty in 27 minutes, against India, in Mirpur in 2007.

522 Number of runs produced by Pakistan’s third wicket in this series, by far the most productive partnership wicket for either team. Pakistan’s fourth wicket is the next best, having contributed 405 runs. Australia’s opening wicket has been their most productive, contributing a relatively meager 212 runs.

1 Number of previous occasions when Pakistan have set their opposition a 600-plus target in a Test. Pakistan beat India after setting them a 607-run target in 2006. In Tests, there have been 16 previous instances of teams being set a 600-plus target, in which the chasing teams have drawn three and lost 13.

3 Number of 100-plus partnerships between Younis Khan and Azhar Ali in this series. For Pakistan, only Younis and Mohammad Yousuf have posted more century partnerships in a series – against India in 2006. The overall record is held by David Boon and Mark Waugh who shared five 100-plus partnerships during the 1993 Ashes.

7 Number of Tests in which Pakistan have declared twice. However, Pakistan only lost nine wickets in this entire Test, which is the second-fewest when they have declared in both innings.

468 Number of runs scored by Younis Khan in this series. This is the best by a Pakistan batsman in a two-match series, or in a longer series where the concerned batsman has played only two matches. The overall record is 571 runs, by Sanath Jayasuriya against India, in 1997.

*10.45GMT, November 2: The article had initially incorrectly stated that Misbah-ul-Haq had broken the record for the quickest Test ton in terms of time.

How to feed the hungry teeming billions of the world..?

What will it take …to improve your life? …for your children to be better off? …for mothers to be healthy? …for all to get a good education? …to end poverty?

More than 1.3 billion people around the globe live on less than $1.25 a day. Fighting poverty in times of crisis may be challenging, but we can’t take our eyes off the most vulnerable.

World Bank Group asked everyone a question, “What Will It Take?” and welcoming people to post their questions on Twitter using ‪#‎whatwillittake‬, and share their solutions with the hashtag#ittakes.

Yet, since the question asked by the World Bank on Facebook on September 6, 2012, the veteran economist Syed Nayyar Uddin Ahmed replied:-

Quote. “Since, a recent study tells that countries which took loans from WB & IMF have experienced increasing suicide rates, there is hardly any answer required to the question, that what it will take to end hunger of those one billion people, who go to the bed hungry, every night. Your extremely hard and harsh loan terms are killing the poorest of the poor people in many ways, what to talk of hunger. Don’t forget that very soon WB & IMF, may be tried for crimes against humanity; because your loans not only breed and enhance corruption, they increase poverty, which also breeds terrorism. Kindly immediately revisit all the inhuman terms and conditions of your loans, particularly given to the poor and developing countries; and also consider writing off these loans which are in fact, sucking blood from the poorest of the poor, to serve the lavish life styles of your employees, consultants, advisers and contractors etc.”Unquote.

What do you think? Is World bank helping to fight against poverty, or they are the “murderer” ?
