Since, India being the larger nation, obviously will be benefitting at least TEN times more than Pakistan, in this new warming up of the trade relations, between the two countries.
As such, as a quid pro quo, firstly, Pakistan must force force India to allow all our TV channels viewing in India, without any restrictions and secondly, resumption of all Indian sports team’s (cricket, hockey, badminton, football etc.) visits to Pakistan.
This will be an acid test of the Indian intentions, about their intentions of a genuine peace with Pakistan, or confirmation of the eternal Indian self serving policy, to have the cake and eat it too.
In any case, it should not be a cake walk for India and side show for Pakistan.

A proposal to improve our forex reserves By Syed Nayyar Uddin Ahmad
Letter Published: January 18, 2014
LAHORE: The government is making allout efforts to put the economy back on track as soon as possible. As they say, a sick economy is like a sick man, who regains strength slowly if the treatment is done along the right lines. In this regard, I suggest that the government launch a scheme, under which all US dollar deposits in Pakistan should get an annual profit rate of three per cent (to be paid biannually) from a fixed future date, for a period of five years.
Here, we already know that we are getting loans from the International Monetary Fund at three per cent and also that the government has plans to obtain $600 million from selected foreign banks at about six per cent.
In my humble opinion, if the above proposal is implemented, the government will receive a flood of US dollars and this will significantly improve our balance-of-payments deficit and foreign exchange reserves.

Pakistani youth declared top in world of mathematics
Business Recorder Monday, 13 January 2014 12:01 Posted by Parvez Jabri 1508
ISLAMABAD: Shahzaib Ali Abbasi, 18, has been declared top in the world for mathematics in the Cambridge O-level examinations held by the University of Cambridge, UK. He has also achieved regional distinction in O-Level in computer studies.
His latest achievement is getting the coveted mention in the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) 2013 held in Colombia, South America, and a mention in the Asia Pacific Mathematics Olympiad, among other accolades, The Technology Times reported.
Shahzaib is studying for his A-levels final from FFC Grammar School, Mirpur Mathelo.
“Shahzaib is not a bookworm. In addition to his studies, he makes time for sports. But when it comes to mathematics, he is crazy about it, so much so that while travelling he keeps a diary and pen ready and keeps solving mathematical problems,” said Zulfiqar, the father of Ali.
Ali said that he has received scholarship offers from King’s College, London; Bath University, UK, and the University of Hong Kong but he dreams of a bachelor’s degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in USA.
“It was a moment of pride for us when he was honoured in the mathematics Olympiad in Colombia and was handed the Pakistani flag,” said Mohammad Usman who teaches mathematics at Shahzaib’s school.
